Picture a 7 mile temporary city built in the middle of the desert for an art festival where you camp for a week. NO cell, no computer, no cars (well only "art cars" but not for driving more than 5 miles an hour) ..Transportation= your trusty decorated bikes. I set out on a journey to find the GIANT SUNFLOWER art to hang Crystals Banner from..and get pictures..OH and the photo the Airbrushed Sunflower on my back. It took me a few dirty days to accomplish the task.
You have no Idea what a journey I was in for!! I set out on my pink furry bike and spent several hours wandering around 7 miles in dust storms and white outs where I could not see two feet in front of me..having to stop in my tracks until it cleared..It's like a talcum power storm.
So the next day I set out on my furry bike once again w/ my daughter (on the red bike) and wallaa!!! not only found the Sunflower art but the artist who created it (the lady pictured w/ me is the artist...and got my pictures!!! Only for Crystal....It was somewhat of a journey but also fun!! To bad the air brush artist did not know exactly what a Sunflower looks like..since it was on my back I did not see it until I got home and up loaded the pictures HA! The pictures are not so great but I DID tell you all on her site a while ago, that I would DO THIS and I'm good for my word.... So MAMASOX this one's for YOU!!!!!!
P.S. The pictures are from different days so all photos are not on the same journey. Was trying to show a little of what it was like. I did not always have someone with me to take pictures ...and the white out dust storms are WAY worse than what shows here. Most people cover their faces and wear goggles. It will be bright and sunny one moment then all of a sudden seemingly out of no where a huge swirl of wind whips up a blast of fine powdery dust. A few times it was so bad I almost ran into someone on my bike..The wonderful part is that it was an ADVENTURE..in an enviornment far far opposite from Hawaii where i live
In updated pics: Piano Player in the desert. Daughter on red bike, me drumming in the pink tuutuu and lace. BTW, no I did not cut my hair. It's doubled up and wrapped to protect.Next year I'll tell the Air brush man what a real sunflower should look like!! Bottom line: With all additional stories involved, the real journey and focus was getting that banner to the sunflowers. It was as good a water in a barren land,(pun intended) when I spotted the art destination!!!!! YAY!!!!!
For more pics, visit my face book. Meanwhile excuse the un methodical jumping around I had to do in writing this!!! I did it in pieces when I had time. I've been time deprived since I touched down on the Island.
ALOHA and Peace....
Love all you V.I.s and LOVE to Mamasox!!
